Email text display window

I am using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP. When I have my inbox folder selected there is a window to the left of the list of inbox folder windows that displays the message text of the currently highlighted e-mail. Is there a way to hide this rightmost window. I can drag the Inbox Window's right border over but a sliver of the message still shows. How do I hide the message text completely.

to the left or right? if you mean the reading pane, you can turn it on and
off from the view menu or right click on the gray border around the message.
