email validation

I need to validate emai addresses that users enter on a submisstion form as
one of many fields on that form. I've seen a variety of applets in either
PHP or Javascript. How can these be used in a Front Page enfironment so that
the one form field for "email" is used for both validation (and if
successful) form data submission along with all of the other form fields?
Can Javascripts or other script be run on submission forms?

I'd appreciate learning how others have tackled this challengewhen found
valid. When the validation there is only one field on the form for "email"
only when the form is submitted is the email validated

If I have a form where users have to complete it in order to get something or have access to
something for free, then the best option I have found it to tell them that submitting the form will
send the access info to whatever email address they have entered.
