Emailing Reminders

I am using Project on a very limited basis, as most of the people in my company aren't very savvy when it comes to using new processes. I would like to know if there is a way of getting Project to email a reminder, to one, or many resources, at specified target dates within each project.

I am not using Project Server, and do not have Web aceess set up. Is it possible to do this in the stand alone version
