email's disappear

every now and then when i open an email to read it, upon
closing, it disappears. i can't find it anywhere, not in
the deleted folder and not in the recycle bin. help.

Sounds like you have a "filtered" view set. You are
probably viewing only unopened email.

Try this:

Open Outlook
Select your INBOX folder
Select VIEW from the menu
Select CURRENT VIEW
Select MESSAGES
Click the RESET button if it is not grayed out
Apply the view.
