Trying to create company letter by inserting corporate logo (a tiff file) in
my Word document. I go through the Insert|From File and select the
appropriate tiff file. While the program "does" then insert a placeholder,
the file itself doesn't show--and I don't really think it's there.

What's going on?

From the Tools menu, select Options and go to the View tab and uncheck the
Picture Placeholders item.

Thanks, Doug, but no go. Went to the designated place and the "Picture
Placeholders" was already unchecked. What next?

As a postscript, I "tried" to post my response to the newsgroup, but failed.
I'm a newby to the newsgroup concept... Sorry!

Hi Monty,

Does this happen with only that one graphic
or with any picture you insert through
Insert=>Picture=>From File?

Not all TIFF format features are supported
in Word. In Insert=>Picture=>From File's dialog
do you get a preview picture there if you
select preview or thumbnail view there?

What version of Word and Windows are you using?

Working with Office/Word 2002. "Yes" I can get a preview of the file if I
want it (thumbnail view setting), but I notice it took a period of time for
the computer to generate the thumbnail.

The file to be inserted is 4.2 MB. Funny that 4.2 meg doesn't "sound" that
big anymore. Think the file's too large for Word to handle?

Consider as well that I've been able to bring in the same file saved as a
jpeg. I've also eliminated the possibility of error in file formatting.
I've saved the source file in various tif file names; none work.

Thanks for your continued thought on the subject...
