Emptying junk mail permanently deletes junk mail

I've checked every option screen, but cannot get deleted junk mail to go to
the deleted items folder first...which is what the instructions for outlook
2003 indicate should happen. When I empty the junk mail folder, that mail is
immediately gone.

I like to empty the junk mail often, but when time permits review deleted
items before exiting and deleting permanently.

btw, I have outlook setup to permanently delete items upon exit.

Thanks for any advice,

True statement.

The instructions you're reading are incorrect. The Junk E-mail folders
words similarly to a second Delete Items folder. If you were to choose a
message in the Junk E-mail fodler and explicitly delete it, it would move to
the Deleted Items folder, but if you empty the folder, it's no different
than emptying the Deleted Items folder. The items are permanently deleted.

Review your items while they are still in the Junk E-mail folder, then empty
the folder.

Thanks Brian,

Hope they fix that little blip in the instructions..it shows up on-line when
you search, so shouldn't be too hard to correct. I agree that I need to
review the junk in the junk folder. It just accumulates so fast that it's
nice to look at a block at a time in the deleted folder. Oh well, guess I'll
just review it more often.

Thanks for the reply,

Mark
