Entering week numbers in the Start column

Norbert

Hi,
I would like to know how I can enter week numbers in the Start column in
stead of the standaard date format dd-mm-yy.
Thanks,
Norbert

Norbert,
The closest you can come is with a date entry form of day/work week. So
for example, today (3/16/07) would show as 4/W11. This format is set
under Tools/Options/View tab, Date format.

Hope this helps.

You shouldn't enter ANYTHING in the Start column (or Finish column for that
matter). Doing so sets a "Start No Earlier Than..." constraint on the task,
it does NOT set the start date. While the field is not 'read only' so as to
allow the convenience of entering constraints in that manner where
constraints are warranted, for 99.99% of the tasks in a project you should
be letting Project do its job as a schedule creator and calculate those
dates for you. You can display week numbers in stead of dates if you wish
by c hanging the date format options but let Project freely calculate them
for you.

Hi Steve,

In general you are right with your comments. However in my case I need the
Start no earlier then constraint.

Norbert

As you say ... I usually think of SNET constraints as being reserved for
those few situations like a part being backordered until a certain date
where they are driven by conditions external to the project but your world
might be different. However do keep in mind that Project ALWAYS stores all
date information as a date/time entry to the nearest minute. When you enter
those constraints they will be set to some specific date and time of day.
You may format the Start column to display a week number only but the actual
field content stored in the database will be an exact moment in time.
