Enterprise Projects Creation - Restore Enterprise Global

A

aaren

Am a newbie to Project Server and my question is that if I choose the
option of 'Restore Enterprise Global', does it impact any of the
existing plans, the macros or views. And what is the purpose of this
option (if it can be called as one).

Currently, am trying to import an existing project into Project Server
and the import option is greyed out.

Any thoughts / inputs / suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks !!

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your questions:

1. Regarding your second question first, if you the Import Project to
Enterprise option is grayed out in Microsoft Project Professional, this
indicates that you are not connected to Project Server through the desktop
application. Refer to the following FAQ for the steps needed to create your
first Project Server login account in Microsoft Project:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/CreateAdministratorLoginAccount.htm

2. Regarding your first question, the Restore Enterprise Global option
overwrites the existing Enterprise Global file with a copy that you backed
up previously. This is a way to "fall back" to a previous version of your
Enterprise Global file is the current round of changes are problematic. If
you have not backed up the Enterprise Global file yet, then you have nothing
to restore.

Hope this helps.
