Entire Inbox contents disappear

I have a user who is trying to delete several thousand emails at a time.
When she does this, the contents of her Inbox disappear. If she closes
Outlook 2007 and reopens, they are all back including the ones she tried to
delete.

I've updated to the latest SP for Office 2007, I've run a repair and
reinstall of Office, and I've delete and recreated the user's Outlook profile
but nothing has seemed to fix the problem.

Another point of interest, if I just attempt to delete around 300 emails at
a time, it seems to work just fine. Am I exceeding some kind of threshold
for number of emails that can be deleted at one time?

The account is configured for Microsoft Exchange Server. The server
environment is Exchange 2003 SP2.

Thanks.

It sounds lile you might not be waiting long enough for the delete to happen,
I have machines where deleting that many messages could take 5 minutes or
more.

Well, I initially thought the same thing. I did wait for quite some time for
the deletion to happen to no avail (approx. 5 - 10 minutes). Nothing happens
until you close and reopen Outlook. Unfortunately, it's not an easy thing
to reproduce elsewhere because I don't just have 1000+ emails sitting around
needing to be deleted.

Any other ideas?

I've noticed the same thing when using OE (Newsgroup msgs)
So now I just delete a batch at a time
