Entourage 2008 frequently crashing when browsing email

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Several times a day, while reading through new email, entourage 2008 will crash. It is now on Snow Leopard but had the same problem as Leopard. This is version 12.2.1 but crashed with previous versions as well. I'd estimate this has been happening for 2 months or so. It happens on 2 computers (my laptop and my desktop). I've rebuilt the mail file on both systems.

Any ideas of what else to try? Thanks.

It sounds like you might be experiencing the webcore crashes. Without seeing
the first part of the crash lot, that's just a guess. See this article to
verify if this is your problem. Sorry, but there is no fix for this problem
at this time.

This is the part of the same crash issue with webkit.

Possible workaround for crashes involving Webcore (Only a small number of
folks have had some success with this)

Have you tried running the Apple combo?

Diane,

Just curious and it may sound dumb, but can Entourage function without Safari? By this I mean could we (shoudl we) remove the app? What are your thoughts and comments?

Diane,

By this I mean could we (shoudl we) remove the app? What are your thoughts and
comments?

Why would you want to remove Safari? It's only 45.2 MB. You don't have to
use it. We have folks ask about removing Entourage since they don't use it
and I don't recommend removing it either since it could cause a future
Office update to fail. I don't see removing Safari would cause any problems
like this, but at some point if you do want it, installing is not as easy as
removing.

The webkit that Entourage users, is probably at the system level. I really
don't know and it's never come up before.

If you are so low on disk space you need to remove it, then this is not
going to help your overall problem. I suggest you simply ignore it.

Hope this helps!
