Entourage has deleted some messages

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop I have been using Entourage successfully for years. Between checking email this morning and then later today, old read messages from one folder have suddenly disappeared, leaving nothing older than this morning. I did a search from the finder and the missing message show up on the list of found files, but the usual directory reference at the bottom is missing. Command-I (get info) says the messages are located in the Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage/2008/Main Identity/Messages/0T/)B/)M/24k
Can I do a sort of import to restore these in the Entourage window?

These files are the Spotlight cache files. If you double click it should
open the message in Entourage. Use one of the find path scripts to see
where they are hiding in Entourage. You do not import these back into
Entourage.

Finding path of messages.

Use one of the two script scripts listed here. You can copy/paste or
download the script.

Update: I was able to install and run the script. I used Command F to find the messages that were mysteriously moved from their folder. I double-clicked on one to open in Entourage. Some of the messages that showed up with Command F were ones that I had intentionally put in the Deleted Items folder, and the script showed that path. For the ones that I had not deleted, but which were gone from the Entourage list of read messages, nothing shows up when I run the script. So many questions: why did this happen? Why to just some messages in one folder and not all? Where are they? Can I get them back into the folder in Entourage?

I'm not sure you are using the script correctly. It should just show the
path and you don't need to use Command F.

To use a script, select from the Script Menu in the Menu bar.

One script takes you directly to the folder. The other script shows the
path to the folder in a window.
So many questions: why
did this happen? Why to just some messages in one folder and not all?
Where are they? Can I get them back into the folder in Entourage?

It's easy to accidentally drag to the wrong folder... a slip of the hand
while dragging is common. Rules could be moving the messages to the
wrong folder.

Once you find them just drag them to the correct folder.
