How did you install Leopard? If you do not have a good base, then the files
that operate using these files will have problems.

There are 3 types of installs:

1. Upgrade Mac OS X (the default upgrade method)*
2. Archive and Install
3. Erase and Install

The first thing you need to do is determine where the problem is located so
you can take the appropriate steps to correct the problem. Is it your
database, preferences, corruption in your User¹s folder, your system files?

1) Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system
wide or if it's your User's folder that contains the problem.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test Office there.

2) If the problem goes away in a new User with a new Identity, we next need
to test if it's your database.

* In your regular User, drag your "Main Identity" to the Shared folder.
* Log out/in to the new test User.
* Drag your "Main Identity" (it is actually copied) to the Microsoft User
Data folder in your new User's Document folder. It will overwrite the test
Main Identity unless you rename one.
* Test
* After test remember to move you Identity back to your regular User's
Microsoft User Data folder/Office Identities folder. IMPORTANT

3) If the problem exists, then it's your database. You need to rebuild.

4) If the problem goes away, then your database is OK. It's either a problem
in your User's folder or with your base OS files.

5) Quickest solution is to apply the combo updater. Even though you are
updated a combo updater overwrites files that the individual updaters do not
when you use Software Update.

See this page for links to combo updaters and how to test your User's folder
for problems.
