-Err 0x800ccc90

I am using Outlook 2000. When I try to send/recieve email
to/from our corporate email server (Exchange 5.5 SP4) I
get the following error message:

"x message(s) couldn't be retrieved from the server. This
usually happens when the connection to the server is lost
due to server or network problems..."

The POP3 server responded with an error. Server
Response: '-ERR The requested message could not be
converted to an RFC-822 compatible format... Error Number:
0x800ccc90."

The problem started after I tried to relay a very large
file to a vendor for troubleshooting. The server timed
out and the message was not sent. When I returned to work
the following day, I found that messages were hung in my
mailbox on the server and were not being delivered to my
laptop there using Outlook 2002. There (at the office) I
do not get errors. However, not all of my email is being
delivered to my computer. I can access mailbox on the
server and can see messages which are not being delivered.

Any suggestions on how I might resolve this issue and what
might be causing it?

You'll need to find and delete from the server the message that is causing
this problem - basically the server is saying that it can't send you the
message that Outlook just requested, and Outlook can't proceed from there.

THis is exactly the same case for me while I am trying to remote retrieve my emails. From time to time there are emails that would cause the retrieving to halt and return the message

It says mail server internal report error (report code 0x800CCC90

I tried using MSN web mail and basically I have the same result. I tried with Yahoo web mail, I can clear the mail box and it would function normal again until the next hit....

Any idea what's going on?

This is a problem with your mail server. It either has a corrupted message
store or it is receiving a message that does not conform to the Internet
mail standards and then attempting to operate on it (it should just delete
it).
