Error importing excell worksheet as a new project

I

Ice

Hi, hope you can help. I am attempting to import some basic project info from
Excell into a new project.
The outline in a task list, with time and cost beside each task is setup in
excell, so I have a name field, duration and budgeted cost.
I am using the import wizard, select a new map, open the excell worksheet,
map the data. So far so good, when I attempt to "Finnish" I get this error:
The source sheet name is required. One or more source worksheet name fields
are blank. A worksheet name is required for importing data.
It has the correct worksheet name in the Wizard under "Source worksheet name:"
Thats where it got the data for me to map in the first place!
Help!
Or do I just go bact to inputing all of the excell data by hand>?
Thats what I did last time :(
Cheers

Hi,

If you have Project 2002+ then save a project as an Excel file but choose
Excel Template as the first option. Now copy your data into this workbook
and it will import more easily from there.

If that doesn't work for you, insert the relevant columns to match your
Excel data then do a copy paste.

Hi Rod,
When I save a project, I dont have an option to save it as an Excel
Template, I do have the option to save it as a "Project Template" a .mpp file.
I am assuming I open a "blank" project select File/Save As/(Dropdown List)
If this is correct then there isnt the Excel Template option - sorry.

Hi Ice,

In the Save As... dialog, select from the Type pick list: "Microsoft Excel
Workbook *.xls" (You'll have to scroll down to find it.) Click Save, and
Next in the Wizard, and then select "Project Excel Template"... etc.

Hi Ice,
The moment you select the required worksheet on the Import Wizard- Task
Mapping page all the upmapped fields appear. Now you have to map them
manually.
Make sure the correct sheet is selected.

Can you please send me the steps that you are following to import the task,
so that i can tell you where you are exactly going wrong.

Thanks and Regards,
