Error messages and disabled 2000 Access dbs when opening them in2007 Access

Just installed the upgrade from Professional 2000 to Professional 2007.
Am not happy with the results - especially Access. I posted the
following complaint about Access on the microsoft.public.office.misc and
was told I needed to post it in an Access group. Not sure this is the
right group.

2007 Access will not open any of my 2000 Access databases without a
stream of error messages first and then will not allow me in through the
switchboard without enabling it for only **1** session!! Only after
working through/closing about 1/2 dozen error messages am I able to get
to a "Security Warning" message/banner that says "Certain content in the
database has been disabled" and has an "Option" button with only an
option to enable it for **this session" only! How can I permanently
enable a database and not have any of the error messages? BTW, the error
messages happen on an 2000 Access database Microsoft has online for
downloading:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC010186491033.aspx?CategoryID=CT101172541033
This downloads the file: 01018649.cab > 1018649.mdb Home Inventory database.

Here are the error messages I have to work through and some of them keep
popping up a 1/2 dozen times:

"The expression On Mouse Move you entered as the event property setting
produced the following error:
The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office
Access can't find.
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a
user-defined function of [Event Procedure].
*........ "

"The expression On Got Focus you entered as the event property setting
produced the following error:
The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office
Access can't find.
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a
user-defined function of [Event Procedure].
*........ "

"The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting
produced the following error:
The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office
Access can't find.
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a
user-defined function of [Event Procedure].
*........ "

Once I work thru / close the error message and click the option button
for 1 session the databases work fine. The next time I open the
databases up starts the error messages.... again.

TIA.

Found my own answer. By exploring help pages, etc... discovered how to
permanently enable the databases. The Databases have to be located in a
"trusted" folder. By clicking Office Button > Access Options > Trusted
Sites > Trusted Center Settings > Trusted Locations > enter the name of
the folder the databases are located.

Now all the databases open with no error messages or security warnings.

Glad you got it solved, Susan.

If you are struggling to find where things have gone in the new version,

Thank you Allen for the very helpful Access website! While I have you on
the "phone" got a question or 2.

1. The Access 2000 databases I have are all limited to 2 GB. This has
resulted in my having to divide them up. The databases are all inventory
type databases. The original db was a sample type one that I expanded
adding several new fields including addition pages, pictures, etc.... Is
there anyway to enlarge the limit of these databases with Access 2007?

2. This question isn't necessarily limited to just Access: what are the
updates needed for MS Office 2007? I have seen mention of a SP2. What,
where are the updates needed for the Office 2007/the programs in it?

Thank you again for your message.

Re Q1:
The 2GB limit still applies. That's an aweful lot of text, unless you have
embedded pictures or sound bytes etc. Linking to external files would solve
that.

If you have embedded files (such as JPG), they can be stored compressed in
A2007, so the file size will be reduced many-fold. However, if you turn this
compression on (Office Buttons | Access Options), previous versions will no
longer be able to view the pix. Linking rather than embedding is still the
best option IMHO.

Re Q2:
MS releases hotfixes as you go, and periodic service packs. You always want
the latest service pack. You should apply the hotfixes for the problems you
encounter.

SP2 for Office 2007 is a recent release, so you should not have to worry
about the older hotfixes released before that time.
