Error messages in Office 2003 OR Windows XP?

Several days ago my computer started showing the following message when I am
loading Outlook and other Office Suite components. "This MSI must be launched
through setup." followed by "Please wait while windows configures ccCommon."
I have to click through these messages three times before the Office
component specifically Outlook will load. This message is also appearing
when I try to load other software programs installed on my computer.

I have reinstalled MS Office using the reinstall tool and it has had little
to no effect.

Is there a fix for this short of doing a system restore? Perhaps this is a
problem that is more generic than MS Office 2003 but I thought I would start
with this group.

Any and all suggestions to resolve these issues will be appreciated.

Not a Microsoft Office problem. ccCommon is a Norton Antivirus file.
