Excel 2003 formula problem

I have a problem with an excel sheet. I have a number of formulaes
horizontally that are shown in the formula bar but do not take effect until i
click in the formula bar and press enter. Why aren't the formulas
automatically shown with the correct values and i have to press enter on each
dragged horizontal line. Please notethat even new formulaes i create on the
same sheet or other new excel files do not automatically calculate.

Please help

Use Tools|Options; open Calculation tab; click in Automatic box
