Excel Cell Size

How do I expand the size of a cell/row in Excel to display a VERY long string
of words. I have tried clicking on the boundary to autofit the text. That
didn't work. I tried setting the height of the row. That didn't work. The
basic problem is that all of the text in a cell is not displaying. It will
display if you click on the cell - but that won't help if I want to print it.
Is there a limit to the size of a cell that can be displayed? Is there any
way around it? I cannot merge cells because I am sorting the spreadsheet.

This from help in Excel 2003

Length of cell contents (text)

32,767 characters. Only 1,024 display in a cell; all 32,767 display in the
formula bar.

This gives you the limit...if you are below this have you tried text wrap
(Format>Cells...>Alignment)

Excel Help states that "a cell can contain 32,767 characters but only 1024
will be visible or can be printed."

If you set the cell to wrap-text and place some ALT + ENTERS after every few
hundred characters you can get some more characters in the cell.

Before you take Help or my suggestion literally you may find some
enlightenment regarding the limitations of text in a cell in this google
search result.

There is a limit to what amount can be displayed, somewhere around 1024
characters.
BUT, you can expand this by entering forced line feeds within the cell <Alt>
<Enter>).
Try this at some obvious places in the text, and see what you get.

....

This particular help topic has been rubbish for several versions now. If
typesize is small enough, Zoom factor is small enough, columns are wide
enough, rows are high enough (or enough cells are merged), word-wrap is
enabled, and newlines, CHAR(10), are placed at regular intervals within the
cell's text, Excel can and will display all 32,767 chars. They just won't be
readable.

The readable limit is around 200 chars per line, 60 lines per screen, so
12,000 chars per screen.
