Excel date Sorting question

Hi Everyone,

Quick question about sorting dates in Excel. I have an excel spreadsheet
that I need to sort based on the assignments that started after 03/31/05,
then by the ministry name, finally the assignment type. I have tried
conditional formatting which does not work. The date format I use is
mm/dd/yy. Conditional formatting converts that format to a 6 digit number so
it screws up the data.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated? Would an IF Statement allow me
to sort the dates? If so what would the statement be and where would I put it?

Thanks for any replies!

Did you try Data/Sort to sort your data?

Also, the 6 digit number is the 'real' date - it's the serial number
for the date and just isn't in a format you can easily understand. :)
You can add the date format back by using Format/Cells and select the
Number tab.
