Excel not recognized by System Info

Howard

I am having difficulty using VSTO. I continually receive this message:
"Project cannot be created because the application add-in is not working
correctly and might jave been disabled. To check for disabled items in the
Microsoft Office application, open the Help menu, click About Microsoft
Office Word or About Microsoft Office Excel, and then click Disabled Items.
If either "Word Visual Studio Design Time Adapter Add-in" or "Excel Visual
Studio Design Time Adapter Add-in" appears, select it and click Enable. If
not, reinstall or repair your installationof Visual Studio Tools for Office."

I do not have any diabled items in the Help->About. But when I clicked on
the System Info button, and did some research, I noticed that the System Info
app recognized Word just fine, even displaying what COM Add-ins were
installed, Product ID, etc... But, I did not see this info for Excel. On
the About form, the Prod ID is there, but it doesn't show in the System Info
app. Plus, the System Info app will not show what Com-Add-ins are installed
because it states, "Microsoft Office Excel is not available. Verify that
Excel is installed and running then choose Refresh from the View or Action
menu". Well, Excel is installed, and it is running. PLEASE HELP!

Hi Howard,

You didn't mention the version of Windows, MS Visual Studio Tools for MS Office (VSTO) or of MS Office Excel you're using, but you
may want to try doing a repair/reinstall of Microsoft Office itself from the MS Office choice in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows
control panel if doing a repair/reinstall of the VSTO tools hasn't helped, then and follow up in the VSTO discussion group using the
link below.

Thnx, Bob. I am using Windows XP, Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for
Developers, and VSTo and VSTO SE. The Excel and Word Add-in choices in the
new Project box work fine. I just cannot create a new Excel (or Word)
Project...
