Excel - Office XP

I copied files from Excel that is on my computer (Office XP) onto a CD. When
I go to open one of them from the CD it indicates I should install Excel
again however it is already on my computer and I also am not allowed to use
the same product key that came with my Office XP. Why don't these files just
open from the CD onto my computer Excel program?

Assuming you mean *.xls files, perhaps because they are read only when on
the cd
Try copy to hd, ensure read only flag is off, then open within Excel

What files did you copy? If all you wanted was a spreadsheet, then you'd
only copy the .xls files.

Also, don't open files straight off of the CD. Copy them to the hard drive
and open from there.
