Hi,

The chart itself can be unlock and protection still be left on:

1. First turn off sheet protection - Tools, Protection, Unprotect Sheet
2. Hold down the Shift key and click the chart.
3. Right click the selected chart and choose Format Object, choose the
Protection tab and uncheck Locked. Click OK
4. Choose Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet.
