i have a column with a lot of values in it which are either yes or no, how do
i find out the percentage of yes's in the column/array

First, this isn't the best newsgroup in which to ask Excel-specific
questions. You'd be better off using microsoft.public.excel, aka General
Excel.

If your column/array were B3:B102, the percentage of yes's would be given by

=COUNTIF(B3:B102,"yes")/COUNTA(B3:B102)

if you only want to exclude blank cells, or

=COUNTIF(B3:B102,"yes")/ROWS(B3:B102)

if you want to include blank cells.
