Export Budget Report

Allen

Hi all,
I want to export the budget report into Excel both are 2003 versions. I have
created a project and assigned all of the cost for each task and now I want
to produce a budget that I can send out or use in a ppt. The only thing I
see with the reports is the ability to print them out.

Thanks
Allen

Allen,
You are correct, the built-in reports cannot be exported or saved to
another application. However, in the case of the Budget report all you
need to do is to export the same data. Here is the basic process:

a. To get all the field names that appear as columns in the Budget
report, go to View/Table/More Tables. Select the Cost view table from
the More Tables selection list and hit "Edit". Make a note of the field
names.
b. To export that data, go to File/Save As and select Microsoft Excel
Workbook in the "Save as type" selection box at the bottom of the Save
As window. Hit "Save" - the Export Wizard will appear.
c. Follow the steps in the wizard and you should be all set. You can
either build you own export map based on the fields gathered in step "a"
above, or you may find the built-in "Cost data by task" map will give
you what you need.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. What I did was just make my export map to Excel
and cut it up. This is just one more thing that MS missed the mark on in
Project.

Allen,
You're welcome but I guess I don't understand how the mark was missed in
this case.
