Export Custom Text field

I have a custom text field which has a value list. I have entered some data
in this field to test & it looks good. I added Text1 to my map to an excel
file, but the data doesn't get exported.

What do you mean the data doesn't get exported? The current value in the
text field will be exported to Excel but if you are looking for the
complete list of values to be exported, you will need to do one at a
time or use a different method (e.g. a macro).

OK, how are you doing the export? And since you are using a spare text
field, what is a typical value?

I do the export via File/Save As/ Excel Workbook then I select the map &
click Save. I set up the custom field with a value list which contains
values such as
Research
Needs Assessment
Feasability Study
Advertising
I also recorded a macro to do the Export, but when the Text1 fields didn't
come thru I tried another simple map with just a few fields including Text1
and did that export manually.

I really do appreciate your help. These newsgroups are the greatest!!

I see now what my problem is. My map just looks at Assignments, not Tasks.
I can do a map for the tasks, but I need a way to link the tasks to the
assignments. I'm linking to this data from Access, but I can't see a field
common to both tasks & assignments. Is there one? It doesn't look like I
can combine tasks fields and assignment fields into one out worksheet - is
that right?
