Using Office 2003 & SQL server 2k:
We need to export a data set to a web page that needs to be formatted
in a Word style table.
I set up a report that has a group header for the records based on a
text field, with a few related fields in the details section. The
report is exported to an XML and XSL, as expected, but the text and
memo fields are truncated. It seems the CanGrow property is not
supported, since the query will export the entire field to XML just
fine.
So why not use the exported query? Because the group header of the
report is really required. For example, for each 1 Program_Title,
display subsequent related records. Unfortuneatly, it also needs to
be displayed in a table format with 1 title in column 1, and the
related fields in the rest of the row spans.
My question is this: does anyone know a way around the fact that one
can't seem to have the nice report groups and have variable sized
fields in the XML output? Or does anyone have a better way to format
XML in a table format?
