Exporting PowerPoint 2002 presentations to a Microsoft Word document

I want to create a participant manual based on a
Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. From the File menu,
you can select Send To Microsoft Word, to export the
slides and the speaker notes. You can also link the files
so that theoretically any changes you make in PowerPoint
will change the Word document the next time you open the
Word document.

However, when I test this theory I get an error message
that Word can't find the linked files. Both the Word and
PowerPoint files are located in the same folder and I
haven't changed the file names. Does anyone have any
suggestions? Thank you.
