I'll try and be brief but this is complicated.
We are resource (hrs etc) loading activities using CSV spreadsheets so that
the profiles are how we want to see them (flat profiles or MSP Contouring
doesn't satisfy our needs). These profiles are then exported into our EV tool
(Cobra) via MPD files using the Cobra import facility.
Because our financial months end on the last Saturday/Sunday of the month
it's necessary to load the resources into MSP on a weekly basis so we avoid
hrs etc falling into the next financial period. So far so good!
However; whilest the profiles look fine against the activities, when they
are imported into Cobra the monthly figures can differ by between 5% and 10%
although the total figure is spot on.
The problem doesn't appear to be with Cobra so we've analysed how the data
is held in the MPD file (via Access). Unfortunately interpreting this data is
proving difficult as the tables are not clear on how they are structured or
how data is held.
My questions therefore are; how are resources held in the MPD table(s)? Are
there any strange things that can happen in relation to the MSP/MPD calendar
that can move resources into non-working days (the only clue we've yet to
find)?
