Fading objects

Al,

I have a figure that I've created in Visio. For the next stage of the figure, I want some of the objects in the initial figure to graudally disapper, but still be visible. I searched fade, diminish, washout and other keywords that I thought described this process in the Visio Help, but nothing came up.

Thanks,

Jamie

AFAIK that functionality isn't in Visio. Typically we either change the
color through a couple of different mechanisms (manually, via a formula in a
shapesheet, via program, or by moving it to a different layer), but outside
of writing your own code there is an incremental facility available.

Sounds like a nice future feature, though. A transparency property for all
shapes...

That feature is in Visio 2002 and 2003, but it's a bit hidden.

1) Select the shapes that you want to make transparent
2) Choose View > Toolbars > Format Shape
3) In the toolbar that appears, choose the button with the overlapping
yellow circle and blue square.
4) Choose the transparency setting that you want

Yeah, I remembered after I posted that (d'oh!). I just never used it so it
didn't stick. Stoopid me...
