Dear All
One of our users has a Project (.mpp file) that was created in an older
version of Project. It is modified at least monthly and he now has Project
2002 installed. He recently opened the file in 2002, made changes to it and
saved as a Project 98 file.
However, now when he tries to open it on any version of Project (well, I've
tried 98, 2000 and 2002) he gets error messages referring to:
Project cannot open the file because format is not recognised.

Any suggestions on how I can get the file back into working order?
Thanks in advance.

Belinda,
If you have tried to open the errant file with all versions of Project
without success, it sounds like file corruption and you are probably out
of luck. Short of trying to open the file using Project 98 on another
PC, your best bet is to use the latest backup version, (you do have
backups, right?), and re-build that file up to the current status.

Just curious, if you are now using Project 2002, why was the file saved
in Project 98 format?

Yes, I do have backups.
The file was saved in 98 format as collaborators only have Project 98 and
aren't able to upgrade, apparently...
Looks like a restore is required... :-(

Thanks anyway.
