File May Be Corrupt - Word - Excel - Vista

A friend emailed me an Excel document that was created in Office 2003. I
have Office 2007 on an XP machine and on a Vista machine.

I downloaded the file to the Vista machine but get the dreaded "File may be
corrupt" error when I try to open the file in Office 2007. I downloaded the
very same file to the XP machine and it opens up just fine in Office 2007.

Has anyone had this same problem with Office 2007 on Vista and how do I fix
it?

Actually, with the Excel file I just remembered that I got a "File contains
unreadable text" error.

I have similar problems when attempting to open Word 2003 files in Office
2007 on Vista that were emailed to me. I can open the Word 2003 files just
fine in Office 2007 on XP machine.

Hi,

Maybe the file is damaged via emailing and you can ask your friend to send you again. Or you can try a utility called Advanced Excel Repair to repair your Excel xls file. It works rather well for my corrupt Excel xls files. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ Hope this helps.
