File Menu options greyd out - "New", "Open", "Save As"

In some documents that I did not create or created using templates provided
by others, I am unable to save the document under another file name becuase
the "save as" option is greyed out. I only have available the "save" and
"save as web page" options. How do I get access to the "New", "Open", "Save
As" option.

While I am using Word 2002, this happened to me in Word 97 as well. This
happens at work with documents created and stored on the server.
