file opening delays

I am having delays in opening all office files of approximately 30 seconds.
It says (Not Responding) behind Open and finally moves to the next stage.
All other programs seem to be working fine with no delays. Any suggestions???

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
