files ending in .pub

I have Office 2000 Professional edition. I was sent a file with the ending
..pub.
How do I open this file? There are several suggestions offered such as
word, word pad and none work. Suggestions

You need Publisher. No viewers, just Publisher.

Files with the extension .pub are opened with Microsoft Publisher.. there is
no viewer for this application, so you will either have to load MS Publisher
onto your own machine, or ask for the publication in a format that you might
be able to read.. a pdf format would be good, readable with Adobe Acrobat
Reader..

Files with the extension .pub are opened with Microsoft Publisher..

Files with the extension .pub are also sometimes opened with Corel Ventura
Publisher.

The two files are completely different formats but share the same extension.

Not just Ventura Publisher or MS Publisher, it would appear..

It probably is an MS Publisher file.. would put a 99% chance on it being
that way..

Since you don't have Publisher, and we're fairly certain that it is a
Publisher file, if you need to be able to see the file, you may send it to my
Gmail account and I will convert it to a .pdf file you you. You won't be able
to edit it but at least you'll know what it is.
