Files not available

Upgraded from Office Pro 2000 to Office Student and Teacher. Using Win XP
w/SP2. Using Norton AV 2002. Cannot open ANY files I could before, not in
Word, PPT or Excel. I've disabled Norton. But still no joy. I can open and
read word files through my network, just not on this machine.

I need help, as this upgrade was for a college course. And I'm upset with
MS...

Not only did I disable, I also uninstalled NAV. There wasn't an "OPTIONS,
or OTHER button and since my wife is behind almost a week in her classes, I
got tired of waiting on MS support. I'll reinstall NAV later today. I
originally asked MS support a week ago and haven't gotten a response from
them other than an autoreply. They damn sure want my money but don't want to
help. I found this last night in desperation.

I'll stick with Linux and open source apps on my other machines...

Strange as it may seem, uninstalling Norton Antivirus doesn't always
uninstall the Norton Office Plugin. Search for the OFFICEAV.DLL file on
the hard drive (be sure to include system and hidden files/folders in
the search options). If you find it, note the folder where it is
located, and use the "regsvr32 /u" method described in KB329820 to
unregister the DLL.
