Files won't open with Office 2000 anymore

I have 2000 installed on my new computer and it was working. Now every time
I try to open my excel spreadsheets, it asks me for the key to install my
trial version of 2003. Can someone tell me how to make 2000 my default
again? I don't want to be out the money to purchase 2003 when 2000 works
fine for me.
