Filter that will not go away

At some point in time my Project became stuck on "Filter for Critical" and
regardless of what view or filter I am on when I dave and exit everytime I
open the project it is on Filter for Critical. How can I clear that filter so
when the file is opened it displays all tasks?

tools/options/view. There is a default view. See if that view is set to
some custom view with that filter applied. Select a different view such as
Gantt.

I had checked that possibility long ago and the default view is set to Gantt.
I have also checked the details of the view to ensure the selections were
correct and they are correct. It is the wierdest thing, no matter what view I
save the project it always come back to filter critical when it is next
opened.

Try regenerating your Global.mpt file. Do a search on Global.mpt. In each
case rename the file such as OldGlobal.mpt so you don't lose any information
in it like Macros, etc.
The one you want to be sure to catch is in your C:\Documents and
Settings\%UserID%\Application Data\Microsoft.....

Use the search utility to find it.
