find all successors of a task

I'd like to be able to select one task and be able to filter such that I can
see only that task and all its recursive successors. Is this possible?

This would help me to predict all the other tasks will be impacted when I
change a task.

Yes it is possible, but it requires running a macro to do it.
You can find my "Trace" macro here: http://masamiki.com/project/macros.htm

A simple way to determine which tasks are affected is to save an interim
baseline and set up a barstyle based on the difference between finish and
the interim baseline finish Then when you make a change the bar will show
the change.

Many thanks. I see a few more macros on your site that will help me.

Cheers,

Just remember, they are there to help you learn. Most of them can use a
little modification to do what you want.

I don't think it's unethical to suggest 3rd party tools that could help if
MSP can't do what you want, so have you tried:
http://www.criticaltools.com/

They have an add-in called "PERT Chart expert" which generates a Networt
(PERT) chart. If you click Tools/Trace it will display only
predecessors/successors (or both) of a selected task.

They do a free evaluation so you can try it out for yourself.

I'm not affiliated to anybody, I just use the add-in and I think it will do
what you want.
