"find and replace..." changes page dn button

In MS Word 2002/XP "find and replace..." changes page down
button (at the bottom of the scroll bar) to "find next..."
functionality. So far, the only way to change it back that
I know is to close and open the Word application. Is there
a setting somewhere or some other way to get back the page
up/down functionality without closing the Word?

Thanks,
Svetlana

Hi, Svetlana,

Between the page down and page up buttons is a button with a small circle.
Click that to get a pictorial menu of a dozen different things you can
search for. (The tooltip when the mouse hovers over this button says "Select
Browse Object".) The menu item in the top right position, closest to the
button, is the Browse by Page selection.

Actually, as on many flyout palettes, the position of specific buttons
depends on the way the flyout is displayed. On my system (with Word always
maximized), the flyout is above the button, and the Browse by Page button is
at the bottom right. If I Restore the document window, the flyout does down,
and the button is where Jay says it is.

That's one I hadn't noticed. Thanks!

This is right up there with adaptive menus for being confusing while trying
to be helpful. :)

You could also go into Tools | Customize, Keyboard, and set yourself an easy
keystroke for PageUp and PageDown, and not have to bother with clicking the
double arrow at all. Others have been happy with that route.
