First check for remail produces errors

T

The Walmsley's

When I check for email (for the first check only) my main email account
fails to find the server.

I'm with BT Internet (Broadband) in the UK. My email is POP3, and uses the
format :-

(e-mail address removed)

I have other sub-accounts ie. wifes (e-mail address removed) and
they connect fine, first time everytime.

When I then go back and do another send/receive it connects straight away,
and check all 3 accounts in a "millisecond".

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Nik.

The problem is due to the fact that the first check is
using your smtp authentication (outgoing) instead of pop
account (incoming). This can happen if you have multiple
accounts or if you have email waiting to be sent. if you
have an smtp account from BT AS THE DEFAULT account,
then your dialup or broadband authentication should be
okay ,. With BT your smtp authentication should be
included in the smtp server settings. if you are using BT
as a mail relay (i.e specfic domain hosting other than bt
internet, then you must register you domain. It is also
possible that Outlook is corrupt and may need to be
installed. BT Internet accounts are geared towards
Outlook express as opposed to Outlook , which handles
smtp in a slightly diffrent way (e.g SPA authentication)
If you are still having problems, email me with the
version of Outlook and I'll send specific info
hope this helps
