Fixed Costs - Ability to enter through PWA

Hello ...

In an attempt to get all of my actual costs in to Project, I would like
Fixed Cost information to be entered via PWA.

When an asset needs to be purchased for a project, I create a task in
MS-Project using the following procedures:

Add A Task
Name the Task: Example - Task Name: Purchase Intel Server
Enter [0 hrs] as the Duration
Enter the date you anticipate purchasing the item as [Start Date]
The system should change the [Finish Date] to be the same as the start
date.

Right click on the task to open - [Task Information]
Click on the [Advanced] tab
Click on the box [Mark task as milestone]
Click the [Ok] button

Select the following menu options: [View] ->
-> [Cost]
The system will change the screen view to show the costing grid
Enter the budgeted amount in the [Baseline] column
When you have the actual invoice amount - enter the invoice amount in
[Total Cost]

I have then updated the timesheet view in PWA to show the Baseline field and
the Total Cost field.

What I would like to do is then have the person whom the task has been
assigned actually key in the amount of the purchase through PWA when the
purchase order is executed.

Is there a way to make the field accessible via the timesheet, or any other
view in PWA, that would allow the assigned resource to update the cost
information via PWA?

Thanks in advance ...

Thank you for your thorough description of your problem. In the future,
however, please include what version of Project Server you are using. 2002,
2003, or 2007? To answer your question, the Fixed Cost field is NOT an
available field that you can add to the My Tasks page in Project Server
2007. An alternate to solve this problem is to ask the team member to
insert a Note on the task to document the actual Fixed Cost amount.

If you are using Project Server 2003, you CAN add the Fixed Cost column as a
published task in each Microsoft Project plan and as a column in the
Timesheet page by following the steps in the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/changetimesheet.htm

Hope this helps.
