Fixed Duration Task, Work Effort Extends Finish Date

Help!

I have a fixed duration task. When I enter "Work" (planned hours), I
receive a message that the resource cannot complete the task within the
duration and it adjusts the end date way into the future.

As I continue reducing the duration and re-entering the work to force the
scheduling, it continues to move the finish date further and further into the
future.

Sounds like a task line corruption.

*****
Backup the file before you continue! Try this on a test copy of your file!
*****
Insert a blank line below the corrupted task.

Type in (do not cut and paste anything from the corrupt line) all of the
information into the new task line.

If you haver multiple resources on the task, you'll need to go to Resourse
Usage to copy over all of the hourly info into the new task. Again, do not
cut & paste, you will just carry over the corruption.

After everything is copied correctly, verify. Then delete the bad task line.

Done.

Amanda,

Have a look at the following:

1. Ensure that resource leveling is set to manual.
2. Check the resource "units" to ensure they are set correctly.
3. Check the booking type of the resource assigned to the task.

If those items have been checked you may want to try the same steps off
line. I had a similar occurence and took the project off line and it
corrected itself.
