fixing pictures

I am editing a multipage document with two columns on each page.
There is text and graphics (jpg) in each column. I try to put th
graphics in the right places, but Word 97 thinks that it knows bette
and moves the graphics around.
Anchoring the graphics doesn’t help much.
How can I overcome Word and keep the graphics where I want them t
remain?

Use a table instead of columns

thanks suzanne. i tried it and it works fine.
but now another problem. my document has several pages. till now i se
the table separately for each page. is there a way to set the tabl
columns for the whole document
