flagging messages in hotmai folders

I recently installed Outlook 2003 and started using it with my hotmail
account.
I found two problems with the instalation:
1. In the hotmail folders, I cannot flaf the messages and I do not see
the indication of an email I replied to.
2. File synchronization takes a lot of time and Outlook synchronizes
every time I click on the folder. Can I configure when Outlook will do
the synchronization?
