Hi Feeon,
Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup
The second part is relatively easy as when you allocate a resource so that
it is overallocated, the resource name will turn red in the Resource Graph
or Resource Sheet view. In the Resource Usage view, you can also insert the
Overallocation field to give a yes/no. Try experimenting in a copy of your
project, Window/Split and viewing the Resource Sheet in the lower pane, then
assign a resource so that it is overallocated.
The first question is more difficult. You need to direct your attention to
the individual resource graphs to see where they are not working. The
graphs will update when you enter the Actual work and Actual Finish Date to
indicate it is finished. Having done that you should know that that
resource is available and presumably already assigned to the next task. You
can also view the Resource Usage view to see when resources are free. I
don't see that a Flag is necessary. If you must have one, then you probably
could achieve something through vba coding.
