flexible range of occurence of a recurring task

I would like to create a weekly two-hour recurring task (team meeting), for
the whole duration of a project.
How can I define it if I know neither the number of weeks nor the finish
date of the project (the only option available)?
What is the best practice in this case?

Hi Pinocchio,

I suggest you add all of the tasks in your project first, then link them to
create the schedule. Then when you insert the recurring tasks, the finish
of the last task will be available to you in the Recurring Task Information
dialog box.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks, Julie. This would be the standard way.
But, as my project develops, the project finish date might change.
What I was thinking of is to trigger an automatic update of the finish date
of my recurring task, every time the project finish date changes.
Is something like that possible in MS Project?

Hi Pinocchio,

Sorry, not that I am aware of. In testing, even after adding additional
tasks and editing the summary recurring task, it does not pick up the new
project end date. I had to manually change the end date to equal the new
end date of the project.

There may be a way through VBA but I am afraid that is outside of my skill
range.

Perhaps another person(s) have a better idea.

Hope this helps.

Julie
