following an email hyperlink in Outlook 2007

I am having trouble with hyperlinks in an email message in Outlook 2007. I
can follow a URL link with no problems but I can't use an e-mail address
link. When I pause on the link, I get the popup box showing the hyperlink,
saying 'click to follow link'. When I click, I get another pop-up box saying
'application not found' Is there a way to fix this?
