Use Microsoft's save as PDF.

I can't duplicate your issue with the Microsoft add-on nor with Acrobat.
Do you have a different PDF converter installed? There are many free PDF
converters around, www.primopdf.com is mentioned here often.
What font are you using? What printer are you using when you create the
publication? Is it a color printer?

The PDF file turned out to be fine on my laptop(32-bit Vista w/office2007),
it's just my desktop(64-bit Vista) !!. How do I check the issue? BTW, I use
"Save as PDF or XPS" in Word2007, and the color is correct. It seems only
Publisher2007 gives me the trouble.

I have exactly the same problem as JALU, except that it happens on both my
Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit laptops.

It has only happened recently (maybe an Office Update has changed
something?) and when I went back to an earlier Publisher 2007 file from which
I had created a pdf file which showed font colours correctly, recreating a
pdf resulted in the font colours changing to grayscale.

As with JALU, files from Word 2007 convert correctly - it is just with
Publisher. And I am using the Microsoft SaveAsPDFandXPS converter.

Looking back at my Publisher and pdf files (I don't use it every day by any
means) it seems that the change to grayscale fonts took place sometime during
October.

The only Office Update which took place on my laptops in October, other than
ones which specifically say they apply to Excel, Word etc was KB955936 on 13
October. I am unable to uninstall this one to see if it makes any
difference, but could this have caused the problem?

OK - I have SOLVED this problem!

In October I purchased a new Brother laser printer (not colour) and made it
my default printer in preference to my HP C7180 colour printer, in order to
reduce printing costs when I don't need colour.

Trial and error has proved to me that the SaveAsPDFandXPS function looks at
the DEFAULT printer when writing PDF or XPS files, not the printer set up for
the Publisher file. Strange that it only does this for the fonts, and not
for any other colour in the Publisher file.

So before converting my Publisher files to PDF I simply change the default
printer back to the colour printer - then after converting, I go back and set
the laser printer as the default.

Will Microsoft pick this up and find out why this happens - and why it only
happens on Publisher files and only for fonts?

Wow, this is the first time I've seen any pattern found to the
PDF-doesn't-print-colour-text issue. When I get some spare time I'll run
some tests myself to verify, and pass the feedback up the chain.

Thanks for reporting your findings Howard!

That's OK, Ed - glad to be able to help, instead of the other way around!

I just resorted to using the Kepno-Trego problem-solving technique that I
learnt back in the 1960s (when I was about your current age!).

That is -

What is it/what is it not/what is the difference/what has changed?

It still works after all these years (even in retirement)!

Thanks a lot, I changed default printer to color one, and it worked
immediately...
Guess Microsoft can have extra option for users to choose color or
black&white PDF copy during print out...
