Font command now working in Word 2000

In word 2000, when I try to access the fonts table,
program freezes, I hit escape, it unfreezes. Program works
normally otherwise. When starting it with /a switch I can
access my fonts. This only happens in Word, in other MS-
Office programs fonts can be accessed normally.
Help would be appreciated
