font problems

I have Publisher 2007. I have created many publications using Comic Sans.
Sometime within the past several months, the font has gone haywire. I'm
unable to use this font in my publications any longer so, I've tried several
others, i.e., Verdana, Sans Serif, Tahoma and Gil Sans. They all start out
o.k. but then one by one will give me a problem. The best way I can describe
it is that a letter will be replaced by a square, or an italic, or a
different font, or just delete a letter. I've uninstalled and re-installed
Publisher but, to no avail. I hope someone has an answer for me. Thanks.

Uninstalling Publisher will probably never fix that problem. Do you have the
problem in any other application? Do they print incorrectly? Have you mace
any major changes to your system about the same time that the font issue
started?

Sounds like you're using Font Embedding with subsetting. Disable font
embedding; it causes more trouble than it's worth.

I have no problems with any other application, I have not made any major
changes to my system at all and it does not print correctly.

I have 2 printers. One is a laser and the other ink jet. They both print
incorrectly. Do you think that has anything to do with the way it shows on
the monitor?

If your fonts are not printing correctly, it is not due to your display. Fonts
are a function of your operating system (Windows). Look at the Publisher's
Language setting in Tools, Language. Be certain English US is selected.
Are you using the commercial printing options?

Print TrueType fonts as graphics
If your problem appears to be related to fonts, turn on the Print TrueType As
Graphics feature if it is supported by your printer, and then test to determine
if your problem is resolved.

To print TrueType fonts as graphics, follow these steps.

Note To change the printing preferences, you must have print permissions.
Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
Right-click the icon for the printer that you are using, and then click Printing
Preferences.
Click Advanced.
Under Document Options, click to select the Print Text as Graphics check box.

Note The Print Text as Graphics check box appears in the Advanced dialog box
only if your printer supports this feature.
Click Enabled.
Note By default, when your printer supports Print Text as Graphics, TrueType
fonts are downloaded to the printer. Generally, this speeds up printing because
the fonts in your document reside in the printer's memory. If your printer
cannot print a document when Print Text as Graphics is turned on, turn off this
setting, and then try to print again.

Windows uses the Wingdings or Webdings font as its default display font when you
install updates with antivirus software running on a Windows XP-based computer

Thanks for the reply but, how do I remove font embedding. I went to the help
menu but it didn't tell me anything.

There are 2 places for tools with drop downs and neither one give me the
option of commercial print tools.

Are you using an English-language version of Publisher? By "Tools", I
mean the "Tools" menu on the menu bar, between "Format" and "Table".
